Increase the NATIVE Shade Tree coverage in the City
Make sure we have a healthy, sustainable and increasing tree coverage in the city. We can achieve this by:
1) only using native trees that stend to be stronger and more resilant than exotic trees, thus building a stronger urban tree cover.
2) Have tree species diversity on each street - currently each block onl has one tree species. If there is an insect outbreak, all the trees on a street die. By increasing tree diveristy, we strengthen our urban forest.
3) increase the use of permable sidewalks that allow water to perculate down to trees living near streets.
